The2nd Annual APWA – New Jersey Chapter Equipment Roadeo is quickly approaching and we would like to invite you to consider being a part of this exciting event. This will be the first time such an event is being held by our chapter. The Roadeo will be held at the Gloucester Township Community Park on June 14, 2022. This will be an outdoor event. THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD RAIN OR SHINE.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be observed whenever possible. Masks recommended when in close proximity of others. Food truck vendors will be onsite for refreshments.
Competition equipment will be provided. You do not need to bring anything but your own personal protective equipment.
Considering participating?Individuals will be tested on their driving ability while navigating through an obstacle course. Competition will include skills tests for backhoe, skid steer, and mini excavator. Participants may complete in one or more of the five equipment skills tests as they like. Skills test examples are:
Backhoe: Test your skills in one of 3 models to complete a timed event. 6 tennis balls will be spread out on top of a traffic cone. Operator must remove ball from top of cone one at a time and placing into a trash can.
Mini Excavator: Test your skills in one of 3 models to complete a timed event. 6 tennis balls will be spread out on top of a traffic cone. Operator must remove ball from top of cone one at a time and placing into a trash can.
Skid Steer: Test your skills in one of 3 models to complete a timed event. Operate a wheeled skid steer through an obstacle course. During event must remove a basketball from top of a cone and place into a trash can.
Zero Turn mower:Test your skills in a timed obstacle course. During event maneuver within the barrels in the correct direction without striking all the way till the end within the fastest time.
Backpack blower:Test your skills by using the blowers forced air to maneuver a tennis ball threw metal hoops in the correct order and direction as indicated in a time event to be the fastest.
There is no fee to participate in this event; however, competition spots are limited and advance registration is required. Contestants must be current employees of a municipal or county public works agency. Equipment will be sanitized between competitors. Five equipment events will run concurrently. Safety is number one! These events are for trained and skilled operators. Limited to 25 contestants in each event.
